Waterproof Mascara - Is it Really Waterproof?
Abstract:
The problem that I was trying to solve was to see which brand of waterproof mascara is the most waterproof, when water drips on it. My hypothesis is that the water will affect some of the mascara and cause them to run. I think this because most of the brands like L’Oreal and Revlon will run more then the rest because the makers of those brands focus more on hair products then cosmetics. I am planning on solving the problem by putting 6 drops of water on an eyelash and see if the mascara would run.
In my review of literature, I’ve learned that some of the ingredients that are in mascara you need to make it waterproof. I’ve also learned that if it wasn’t for the French stage mascara wouldn’t be were it was today. I’ve also learned that animal testing is very painful to the animals. The brands of mascara that ran were the brands that I would have thought would have run.
You need to know which brands of mascara’s are really waterproof or if the bottle just says that it is. Out of 6 of the brands that I tested on only 3 did not run and 3 did run.
Statement of the Problem:
I am attempting to solve the problem off which brand of waterproof mascara works better or if it works at all. It would be safer for people to use regular mascara then waterproof because it comes of better. Also would a mascara that cost $0.99 be more affective or more waterproof then one that costs $50.00.
I am going to solve this by putting 10 different brands of waterproof mascara on a some fake eyelashes. I'm going to then tape the eyelash onto a tray and put 3 drops of water on the eyelash and see witch one runs more. If all of the brands that are waterproof run then it would be safer if people just used regular mascara.
